Sydney, Australia: Following acclaimed runs in Stockholm and London, Mamma Mia! The Party – the internationally celebrated theatrical dining experience created by Björn Ulvaeus, founding member of ABBA – will have its Australian premiere in Sydney in March 2027 at Sydney Event Centre at The Star.
First came the musical. Then the movie. Now the party continues.
As the next major step in the production’s international expansion, Sydney has been chosen as the newest global destination for the hit experience, reflecting both Australia’s enduring love of ABBA and Sydney’s status as a world-leading city for tourism, culture and live entertainment.
Celebrating ten years in Stockholm and its seventh year in London, the international sensation has welcomed almost 1.5 million guests from around the globe, becoming one of the world’s most successful theatrical dining and entertainment experiences.

Created by ABBA’s Björn Ulvaeus, Mamma Mia! The Party is a premier theatrical dining experience that transports guests to a vibrant Greek taverna on the island of Skopelos – where much of the 2008 movie adaptation was filmed – for an unforgettable evening of live entertainment that unfolds all around guests, a sumptuous four-course Greek feast and ABBA’s greatest hits performed by a live band and cast of 20 talented musicians and performers. As the sun sets, guests take their seats at Nikos’ family-run taverna while a romantic and heartwarming story unfolds all around them, filled with timeless anthems including Mamma Mia, Dancing Queen and Waterloo. Following the performance, the venue transforms into a glittering 1970s disco with a DJ spinning ABBA classics and guests are invited to stay, sing and dance the night away.
UK critics are raving:
“A NIGHT OUT WITH ABBA IS THE VERY BEST ESCAPE” – THE TIMES
“THE NAME OF THE GAME IS FUN” – DAILY MIRROR
“I’VE NEVER SEEN SO MANY PEOPLE HAVING SO MUCH FUN!” – SMOOTH RADIO
“A GLORIOUS, FEEL-GOOD EXTRAVAGANZA” – CONDÉ NAST TRAVELLER
Björn Ulvaeus said, “Bringing Mamma Mia! The Party to Sydney is a hugely exciting milestone for us. From the very beginning, this experience was created to bring people together through music, storytelling and joy, and it has been wonderful to see audiences in Stockholm and London embrace it so wholeheartedly. Australia has always felt like a natural next step for us, and Sydney – with its energy, international appeal and love of live entertainment – is the perfect city for this next chapter.”

Sophie Arendt, Managing Director of Mamma Mia! The Party for Pophouse Entertainment, added, “Sydney is a defining milestone in the international growth of Mamma Mia! The Party. As a globally recognised city with a vibrant live entertainment scene and strong appeal for both local and visiting audiences, it is the ideal destination for our Australian premiere and an exciting next step in our broader global rollout.”
“Bringing Mamma Mia! The Party to Australia feels particularly special for me,” said Paul Dainty AO, President and CEO of TEG DAINTY.
“I had the extraordinary privilege of promoting ABBA’s first and only Australian tour back in 1977, and I still remember the phenomenal excitement that followed them across the country. Australia’s love affair with ABBA has never really ended – their music has become part of our cultural fabric.
“To be now working with Björn and Pophouse to bring this extraordinary celebration of ABBA’s music to Sydney feels like a wonderful full-circle moment. Mamma Mia! The Party is pure joy – it brings people together to eat, sing, dance and experience these songs in an entirely new way – and I can’t wait for Australian audiences to experience it.”
The production is expected to make a strong contribution to Sydney’s visitor economy and live entertainment sector, creating 151 year-round on-site roles and attracting audiences from both interstate and overseas.
Since opening in August 2019, Mamma Mia! The Party London has welcomed over 700,000 guests, delivered over 1500 performances, and has been visited by guests from 110 countries for a full evening of dancing, dining and singing to some of ABBA’s greatest hits.
Mamma Mia! The Party is executive produced by Björn Ulvaeus and Pophouse Entertainment and TEG Dainty in Australia.
